Courtlin Jabrae

Singer and rapper Courtlin Edwards experienced some fame during the 2000s as one-half of Pop It Off Boyz. Going by CG, he and partner Nicholas Brown, aka Lil Action, scored a viral hit with "Crank Dat Batman," recorded in response to Soulja Boy's number one pop hit "Crank That." In March 2008, after Motown licensed the single for wider release, it reached number 64 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The Carbondale, Illinois-based duo later split, then reunited, but Brown died in a 2014 car accident.

All the while, Edwards recorded as a solo artist under the name Mr. CG and co-wrote material for other artists, including "Outside" for Trey Songz. Edwards later recorded as Courtlin Jabrae -- Jabrae is his middle name -- and appeared on tracks by the likes of Trackdilla and Spade ("Come with Me") and Schama Noel ("Can't Be Broke Down"). In 2016, signed to the eOne label, Edwards released "That Way," an emotive and autobiographical single with an interpolation of K.P. & Envyi's late-'90s Top Ten pop hit "Swing My Way."
