Juliann Alexander
Julian Alexander Goins, known mononymously as Juliann Alexander, is not just
your average recording artist but also an authentic multimedia talent and
bonafide trendsetter.
Born into a family of entertainers on January 27th, 1993, Juliann came into
this world seemingly predestined for the spotlight. No sooner than he
learned to string together his first few words did he begin gathering the
family into their Los Angeles, CA home living room to show off his skills in
front of a live audience. He was nourished by the attention and it was
evident that the more he got, the more his hunger for it grew. So, it came
as no surprise to those around him that by the age of seven he had already
decided that he would be a world famous actor, dancer, and rapper – making
the bold “triple threat” declaration during his baptism in front of his
Pastor and the ten thousand plus congregation watching on.
His father was a rapper signed to MCA Records, his grandfather the personal
manager for legendary comedian Don Rickles, his older brother platinum
selling RCA recording artist, Kid Ink – but Juliann would find his own route
into the family business. The hours spent in the mirror perfecting the dance
moves of Usher, Omarion, and Chris Brown would land him a scholarship to the
renowned Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy where he soon found himself dancing
alongside krump king Tommy the Clown during the height of the krumping
craze.
Displaying what could only be described as an innate gift for sensing shifts
in popular trends, Juliann stepped away from krumping at it’s peak and
caught on to a burgeoning dance style few knew about at the time called
jerking. It wasn’t long before jerking had exploded from a local, urban
dance genre into a global cultural phenomenon and Juliann was right there at
the forefront – recognized universally as a founding pioneer and leader of
the movement. Juliann and the 20+ member dance crew he formed, The Rangers,
would serve as the driving force behind the jerk movement with YouTube
videos that earned views in the hundreds of millions and attracted the
attention of pop music icons like Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, and Sean
Kingston who sought out Juliann and his crew and cast them to dance in music
videos for some of the top-selling songs of the past decade.
Having a vision for his career that dance alone could not contain, Juliann
turned his attention to music. Demonstrating an astute aptitude for
marketing, Juliann formed a rap trio bearing the same moniker as the dance
crew he had made world famous. The independent release “Jerkin’ is a Habit,
Vol. 01? claimed Juliann and his fellow Rangers a spot among the top 20 album
downloads in iTunes’ Hip Hop/Rap category during it’s first week in release
and is still considered a classic among Jerk enthusiasts. Then, somewhere
between the tens of thousands of albums sold, the world tours to Australia,
Germany, Russia, and France, and astounding merchandise sales, what started
out as Juliann’s “little dance project” caught the attention of cross-media
superstar Nick Cannon would sign Juliann Alexander and The Rangers to his
music/film/television imprint, Ncredible Entertainment.
The official release of the video “Swimmin’” by Nick Cannon featuring The
Rangers and Roscoe Dash marked Juliann’s introduction into national
mainstream media play receiving air time on BET’s popular video program 106
& Park and earned him several guest appearance spots on the popular music
program. That was followed up with the single, “Pretty Girls Shake It” which
spent several weeks on BET’s 106 & Park as a Top 10 requested video.
Next on the agenda for Juliann Alexander was the official release of the
group’s single “Tip”. Produced by and featuring hip hop production icon
Swizz Beatz, the up tempo dance track with a bass heavy rhythm also served
as the lead single for the Lionsgate Films raunchy coming-of-age comedy,
“School Dance” in which Juliann would also tackle his first major acting
role turning in a memorable performance as one of the lead characters
alongside Kevin Hart, George Lopez, Mike Epps, and Katt Williams.
Still basking in the glow from “School Dance”, Juliann – never being one to
sit still for too long, once again turned his attention towards music but
now as a solo artist. Appearing on the lead single “Dangerous” from the Kid
Ink project “BatGang 4Bs” Juliann not only held his own but shined on the
radio-friendly track that featured both Kid Ink and award winning
rapper/songwriter Ty Dolla Sign.
Armed with hundreds of thousands of fans following his every move across his
Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube accounts; and fresh off the buzz
from starring in a major motion picture and being featured on a hit single,
the timing couldn’t be more right for Juliann to embark on his first solo
project. His mix tape “Dying to Live Forever” is set for a Winter 2014
release. The first two teaser singles, “Know Better” and “Goodie Goodie” are
already gaining traction within the online music community; growing his
already vast fan base and leaving music enthusiasts salivating in
anticipation of the full project.
